Vineyard Vistas
Haywood / Carneros Vineyard Suite

2000-2001

In late 1999, I began a project which would conclude two years later with the completion of twenty-five original oil paintings.

Each of the paintings evolved through several stages of creative metamorphosis — from an initial photographic source, through a computerized transition, to a final detailed refinement with oil paint on canvas.

The subject matter for the project was limited to two wine growing areas of Sonoma Valley — the steeply terraced Haywood Vineyards above the town of Sonoma and, to the south, the expansive rolling hills of the Carneros region that touches the San Francisco Bay.

The paintings were exhibited as a complete suite and were created especially for the final exhibition of the Artist-in-Residence Series at the Press House Gallery of Buena Vista Winery in Sonoma, California, August, 2001
